  • Initially I rejoined the company to work as the lead excavator operator I was selected to work on the more complex capital works projects, which included pump stations and ancillary works and water trunk mains, activities included deep trenching in both rock and unstable ground, building temporary cofferdams, installing associated temporary works for deep shaft construction on different sized excavators up to 45 ton.
  • Due to a change in management structure the business manager approached me to step into the vacant supervisor role to help the organization through an extremely busy period.
  • Working primarily on new subdivisions, installing gas and water mains in accordance with the relevant authorities’ requirements, I placed strong focus on driving the compliance of OHS, Quality and efficiency amongst the crews I lead, which was made up of both direct and sub contract labour.
  • I was also involved in weekly programming and progress meetings and attended monthly cost to complete meetings with the GM, business manager and my Snr PM.

  • Attendance of weekly programing meetings and completion of monthly reports for the Senior Management Team on progress of projects, future workload etc. where also included in my job criteria.

  • Working on the QGCLNG gathering project, the largest project of its kind in Australia on the coal seam gas sector, I worked in the facilities part of the business.
  • I started out as an excavator operator, installing lease legs, low point drains, high point vents etc. Three months into job I was made up to a leading hand in charge of 10 men and 4 excavators and 1 trencher, in addition to facilities my crew also worked on tie in’s, conventional laying, special crossings and rehabilitation of work sites back to the original state.
  • One of the key roles as a leading hand was completing daily allocation sheets, site diaries and other associated paperwork including both QA and safety documents.
  • I lead daily prestart meetings, delivered weekly toolbox talks and headed up internal workshops within my core crew. In addition I attended weekly progress meetings where I had to report back on the previous week’s activities and program in future works in line with the main line operations.

  • For the last 18 months, in this role as an O C I was the link between the field and office, ensuring labour and plant are distributed in order to service our busy work book.
  • On top of this I took an active role in the development of field staff with the career progression, training and there personal wellbeing.
  • To ensure the successful running of pipeline crews, the main clients were water authorities across Victoria, the purpose of my role was to control the onsite OHS, quality and programmes/budgets in accordance with Armstrong’s Integrated Management Systems.
  • Operate excavators of various sizes from 13ton to 45ton, duties included mainline digging, deep trenching, rock breaking, and site rehabilitation. I also worked on daily hire where I carried all facets of earth work from bulking out to final trim.

My workload ranged from single plot sites up to developments of 2000 plus plots.
