  • Assisting pilots with transfers, ensuring safety when boarding/disembarking in a variety of weather and sea conditions.
  • Transporting pilots to and from berths within the ports.
  • Handling man ropes and ladders for pilot access.
  • Maintaining constant communication with cutter masters and pilots during transfers.
  • Assisting cutter master with various maintenance tasks and completing emergency drills.
  • Inspecting vessels equipment; lifejackets, harnesses, life rings, lanyards other various items of safety gear to ensure seaworthiness standards.
  • Interpreting weather forecasts, swell and wind direction. Paying attention to marine weather warnings and implementing safety measures in such conditions.
  • Maintaining a proper lookout during operations and escorts, assisting master with navigation, radio communications and situational awareness in high traffic shipping channels.

Commenced employment as a Port Officer, in which my primary role is to ensure a safe and secure port under the obligations listed in the Ports Safety Operating License issued by the NSW Government.

  • Comprehend emergency and incident response plans and procedures.
  • Understand procedures and expectations for firefighting capability as per PSOL.
  • Knowledge of emergency response equipment limitations and their deployment/recovery methods.
  • Take part in conducting checks on specialised firefighting and spill equipment.

  • Operate a range of vessels whilst implementing the safety management system to ensure a safe and efficient service that meets regulatory requirements.
  • Perform clear communication over radio to control when starting up and shutting down vessels, entering Circular Quay and communicating with other vessels.
  • Maintain a scheduled timetable service whilst always providing safety.
  • Managing crew efficiently and oversee tasks performed.
  • Addressing preventative maintenance tasks in our company's PMS including, firefighting equipment.
  • Professional personal presentation, in addition with providing exceptional customer service to reach our customers satisfaction.
  • In charge of bunkering and black water pump out operations meeting marine pollution standards.

  • Conduct weekly drills to prepare for emergency situations that may occur.

  • Various high-speed catamarans with twin screw engines carrying up to 222 passengers. Areas include travelling across Broken Bay to Brisbane Waters from Palm Beach.
