A voluntary position with the SES to support and aid communities that require assistance from the occurrence of floods, land search and land rescue for missing people, and critical storm damage on residences. Training takes place on a weekly basis to continuously develop skills that have been learnt so they can always be effective in the field.
On a day-to-day basis, the role focuses on detecting and mitigating unauthorised access, monitoring external and internal facility conditions by human presence or utilising CCTV, analyse and manage logistical documentation, consistent and accurate communication with colleagues, and liaise with corporate individuals about facility-relevant logistical receiving’s.
As an intern, I have had a great opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of what it is like to work for the NSW Government. The online internship offers a multi-disciplinary package, allowing me to gain highly valuable job experience in fields such as policy development, data analysis, Work, health and safety, and communications.
A project initiative that was comprised of nine students, and as a team was collaborating with the NSW Police Force to research and write a report with an aim to understand youth crime in Regional NSW and what strategies can be implemented with the intention of reducing youth crime rates.
