Work History

Acting CKD Clinical Nurse Consultant

Gold Coast University Hospital
2024.01 - Current

I autonomously provide education on options for chronic kidney disease patients and assist with symptom management. I complete referrals for dialysis and transplantation workup, collaborating with renal consultants and a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best patient outcomes. I manage time efficiently to meet deadlines, demonstrate leadership, and am self-motivated with a strong sense of personal responsibility. In a dynamic work environment, I provide professional services and support, utilizing my analytical and problem-solving skills to devise effective solutions for challenging situations. I resolve problems, enhance operations, and deliver exceptional service. As a Clinical Nurse Consultant, I have redesigned the patient education visual aids to enhance patients and their families' understanding of renal replacement therapies, which has received positive feedback. I efficiently record patient outcomes using the IEMR system and complete referrals using the eBlue slip system.

Acting Clinical Nurse Renal Inpatients Ward

Gold Coast University Hospital
2023.01 - Current

My responsibilities include Baxter peritoneal dialysis, APD, and PD; providing acute care for patients with renal transplant complications; maintaining and troubleshooting renal access such as AVG, AVF, Permacaths, IJVC, and FVC. I am involved in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient needs. I manage patient admissions, transfers, and discharges in collaboration with bed managers. I provide leadership, allocate staff, support staff decision-making, and refer to appropriate members of the multidisciplinary team. As a clinical nurse in the renal inpatient ward, I have managed the people handling portfolio, conducted training, and completed annual assessments for all staff, uploading these records into the online learning system. I have utilized strong analytical and problem-solving skills to devise effective solutions for challenging situations, demonstrated initiative and creativity in difficult tasks, developed interpersonal skills through positive relationship-building, and worked efficiently in fast-paced environments. Recorded all treatments provided, medications and IVs given, discharge directions, and follow-up care instructions using the IEMER System.

Registered Nurse Hemodialysis Unit

Gold Coast University Hospital
2018.01 - 2023.01

I am skilled in accessing arterial venous fistulas and grafts, and trained in ultrasound-guided cannulation of AVF/AVG. I am adept at managing patient fluid assessment and ultrafiltration before and after treatment. My expertise includes assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient needs. I also educate and supervise new staff. I handle maintenance and troubleshooting for renal access, such as AVG, AVF, Permacaths, IJVC, and FVC. During my time in the dialysis unit, I served as a trainer for people and manual handling, responsible for the training and annual assessment of staff. In this role, I initiated a three-month trial to position all hemodialysis machines on the left side of the patient's chair/bed to prevent staff injuries, as the unit frequently moved machines between patient appointments. The trial was successful before I transitioned to the renal inpatient ward.
