My role at Brisbane Private Hospital (BPH) commenced as a Graduate Enrolled Nurse, where I completed two 6-month rotations — the first in the Rehabilitation Ward and the second in the Neurosurgical Ward where I continued working. During this time, I developed foundational clinical skills, including medication administration, wound care, observations, and patient education. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, I gained experience in delivering patient-centred care, supporting patients through pre and post-operative care, and responding effectively to changes in clinical condition. This role has strengthened my clinical confidence, communication, and ability to work in fast-paced acute care environments.

My role as an Assistant in Nursing involved working in the aged care sector, supporting residents with activities of daily living while maintaining their comfort, dignity, and adhering to strict infection control protocols. This role allowed me to develop effective and compassionate communication skills, adopt a team-focused approach, and enhance my ability to deliver person-centred care. Working through an agency also required adaptability and resilience, as I regularly integrated into diverse teams and environments to consistently provide high-quality care.

This position demanded strong attention to detail, accurate data entry skills, the ability to identify and resolve errors or anomalies, as well as effective time management and organisational capabilities.
