The Earn and learn program, was based on Aged Care traineeships and higher apprenticeships which would benefit employers by increasing their capacity and benefit workers by offering the ability to gain skills and qualifications while continuing to earn a wage to support themselves and their families. OCTEC Ltd supported the participant financially paying for NDIS applications, Police Checks, 3rd party motor vehicle insurance, post placement support and work clothing and all the pre employment support required to transition into paid employment. Strong relationships were build with a number of Aged Care Facilities. This opened up the opportunities for the participants to partake in the programs for Disability focused and Aged Care focused Apprenticeships. Earning as you is an innovative project which put Victorians into work particularly during the COVID recovery period.
Resume building right through to Mock Interviews were conducted fitting the right people into the most suitable roles. I attended 66 assessments as part of the project and consider it to be a successful project.
Being involved in the Jobs Victoria project I found it was so rewarding and intense.
