- I spent 5 months progressing within these areas and feel that I am competent in all duties associated with the role of COS Tunnel/Pebble Crusher operator
- Recently I have received training within the Secondary Magnetic separation area and feel confident within this role
- Pebble Crusher area duties including: Conveyor checks - Visual inspection to ensure all safety devices such as emergency lanyards, Rip Switch and drift switches are in place to prevent harm or damage to personnel or equipment
- Checking the return side of the conveyor for material build up and report any defective scrapers to minimise the carry back of material
- Report any issues such as belt tears, frays, cuts, belt tracking
- Perma lubes are in place and active
- Gear box oil level and temperate
- Motor temperature
- Apron Feeder checks - Visual inspection to ensure safety devices such as emergency lanyards are in place to prevent harm or damage to personnel or equipment
- Ensure all chains and Pans are in place with no nuts or bolts missing

- Inspect planetary gearbox oil level and temperature

- Pebble Crusher checks - Visual inspection and monitoring of Pebble Crusher lube system lube pumps, motors, oil levels, temperatures, flows and report any abnormalities to area senior operator
- Inspect crushers for loose or missing bolts, report damage to the crushers caused by ring bounce due to tramp metals passing through, perform crusher bowl clear cycle to remove tramp metal from crusher mantle/bowl
- Inspect Hydraulic system lube pump, motor oil level, hose condition, monitor clamp and tramp system pressures
- Inspect crusher feed conveyors to ensure all safety devices such as emergency lanyards and drift switches are in place to prevent harm or damage to personnel or equipment
- Ensure return scraper is work efficiently to prevent carry back of material
- Check feed bins to ensure structural integrity, no missing nuts or bolts indicating missing wear plates, report any holes in bins and chutes for rectification
- Prepare Pebble Crushers for rebuild, operation of shuttles, knife gates, cleaning of head chutes and vaults, operation of the hydro set control panel to adjust crusher gap setting
- Secondary Magnetic separator area duties including: Slurry pump inspections, monitor motor temps, motor bearing oil/grease levels and listen for any abnormal noise
- Inspect high and low speed couplings to ensure all nuts bolts in place, monitor gearbox temperature and listen for any abnormal noise
- Ensure all associated pipework is secure and damage free
- Ensure sump pumps are in working order and are pumping to correct position, inspect all pipe work for blockages, inspect all elutriation columns for damage, blockages or abnormal behavior, inspect all magnetic separators for blockages, spillages, missing hardware and motor for abnormal noise, ensure all manual valves and dart valves are open unless they are required to be closed
