As the Regional Development Manager, I am responsible for overseeing and coordinating a range of programs in the Barkly Region. My primary objective is to manage the delivery of Community Development Programs, which encompasses Remote Youth, Sports, and Recreation Programs, Library, Safe Houses, Tenant Creek Swimming pool Facility, youthlinx, and gym, throughout the council.
To ensure timely completion and submission of program and funding reports, I prioritize effective communication and collaboration with communities and relevant stakeholders. Additionally, I manage the expenditure of the Community Development program, ensuring strict adherence to council policies and contractual obligations. I work closely with the finance department, funding bodies, government and non-government organizations, and local community groups to maintain accurate records and provide prompt reports.

I oversaw the AFL program and competition in Groote Eylandt and surrounding areas. Our goal was to promote health, fitness, well-being, and social cohesion through a community-focused and safe AFL program for all participants. I provided weekly administration support and prioritized promoting female football. I recruited, mentored, and supervised casual staff, trainees, and community volunteers. I delivered AFL programs and collaborated with other organizations to promote community safety and cohesion. I hosted AFL events and activities to support targeted health messages and initiatives and maintained up-to-date participation statistics.
As Municipal Service Supervisor, I oversaw waste management, road maintenance, and public area upkeep. I streamlined waste management, improved work processes, and prioritized tasks to achieve service goals. I worked with the Regional Manager and contractors to ensure high standards in road maintenance. I acted as a liaison between management and employees, managed administrative processes, and introduced policies and culture through orientation sessions. I delivered key projects on time and within budget, improved control systems and structures, and implemented an innovative employee incentive program.
As a community development coordinator, I collaborated with community Local Authority and stakeholders to create strategies that encouraged short and long-term development of communities. Using research skills, I identified development opportunities and developed innovative programs tailored to the unique needs of the community. Primary Objective:
The aim of this position is to provide leadership and support in the administration, planning, and implementation of sport and recreation activities that align with the strategic direction of the East Arnhem Regional Council (EARC).
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop, coordinate, and implement ongoing Youth, Sport, and Recreation (YSR) programs.
2. Facilitate effective delivery of services and programs that cater to the specific needs of the target population.
3. Provide active mentoring and support to the YSR team through identification and delivery of training, where appropriate.
4. Assist in the identification and effective management of Indigenous youth who are at risk of self-harm.
5. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to assist in the effective implementation of the YSR program.
6. Build the capacity of the community to support Indigenous youth through consultation.
7. Ensure that all key performance indicators (KPIs) are progressively worked towards and provide feedback to the YSR Regional Manager.
8. Maintain a positive influence in the community and foster a safe working environment.
9. Assist with the management of council assets and equipment and report any damages or faults.
10. Encourage team members to become stronger, more agile athletes and more successful competitors through focus, effective training, and proper nutrition.
11. Ensure that all YSR facilities are regularly cleaned, and maintenance issues are reported in a timely and efficient manner.
12. Mentor and encourage youth to develop a strong work ethic by being a positive role model and practicing skills regularly.

- Work with Logan Indigenous communities to promote participation in sports and recreational activities by developing their skills.
- Organize relevant coaching training for volunteers and implement training activities designed for specific community members.
- Work as part of the Indigenous Programs Development Unit and with the Grants Unit in preparing grant applications that support local sports and recreational activities.
- Undertake relevant administrative and support duties in managing and coordinating the program, including setting up and taking down sports and recreational activities.
- Build effective relationships both internally and externally to contribute to the ongoing development and sustainability of Indigenous sports and recreational programs.
- Maintain good working relationships and respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
- Supervise volunteer team members to ensure program outcomes are met.
