Summary

I have completed my MBBS, MD from India and have worked there for few years as junior resident doctor. I have migrated to Australia recently and have cleared my AMC part 1 examination. I have experience in both clinical and research aspects and have also worked at field level in community as part of my postgraduate resident doctor training. Thus I have gained experience covering various dimensions of the medicine and would continue the same approach in the future also. I am looking for opportunities to work as an RMO to further advance in my medical career in Australia.

  • Madhuram Diabetes and Thyroid centre is a unit of Idhayangal Charitable Trust, NGO focussed on Type 1 DM from poor socio-economic strata. I opted this job to gain experience in management of chronic diseases and also to pay my contribution towards the great job done by the Charitable Trust.
  • During this period I worked under endocrine specialists and Internal medicine specialists which boosted my understanding and knowledge on chronic non-communicable diseases. Under their guidance I evaluated, diagnosed and treated patients with wide range of endocrine disorders. I also gained knowledge regarding many new technologies and innovations made in the field of medicine.

  • During this period I underwent intense training in clinical, research, epidemiology, environmental sciences and occupational health.
  • Apart from this I have also worked in both rural and urban health centers during my training period and was also posted at community health clinic to provide high quality care for low-income and indigent patients. I have been trained in the clinical aspects through the rotatory posting working with multidisciplinary team in various clinical department in the hospital.
  • I have conducted and attended various medical camps as part of out reach programmes. In medical camps we provided the patients with diagnosis, treatment counselling, and referral services. During this period I was trained to instruct and advise patients regarding preventive health care measures to promote early detection, diagnosis and management of medical conditions. I have also participated in many public health education sessions among targeted populations with prevalent health risk factors.
  • During COVID pandemic period we were posted in various community pandemic control tasks viz. COVID screening, vaccination camps. We were also trained to diagnose and treat COVID patients.
  • As a part of my research I have published two papers and have done many oral and poster presentations in both national and international conferences. I have done my thesis on the health status of reproductive age women in agricultural occupation of Tamilnadu.
  • Other than this my area of interest are health policies, epidemiology, health administration, occupational health, health care in special groups, global health. I have been trained in all fields of the public health aspects very meticulously.

  • During my internship, I underwent rotatory posting which gave me an opportunity to work with multidisciplinary team in various departments viz General medicine (2months), General surgery (2 months), Pediatrics (1months), Obstetrics and Gynecology (2 months) Emergency medicine (2 weeks). Other rotations included intensive care unit, anesthesiology, orthopedics, ophthalmology, ENT, psychiatry, community medicine.
  • My responsibilities during this period included patient history taking and conducting a thorough physical examination, ordering and executing various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images and provide counselling to the patient accordingly. I had an opportunity to team with other physicians, specialists, and health care providers to provide well-rounded care for complex cases. This collaboration provided me guidance to diagnose diseases and to give appropriate treatment to the patients.

Gaps in Clinical Practice

About 1 year (October 2022 - Till Present)

I completed my MBBS and MD and was working in India, after which I got married and migrated to United Kingdom where my husband was working. I didn't take up any job there as my husband was planning to migrate Australia in about 5 months since he got job in Perth. Thus I started  preparing for AMC examinations planning to appear for it so that I could take up a job as soon as I reach Australia . But by the end of March I was diagnosed pregnant due to which I couldn't speed up with the process. By april we migrated to Australia and my husband took up the job in Perth. I took some time to adopt myself to the changes in pregnancy and despite all the challenges cleared my AMC MCQ exam successfully in September. Currently am pregnant meanwhile preparing for AMC part 2 examinations and will be available by early 2024 for taking up the job.
