- Geotechnical geologist in charge of leading activities linked to geotechnical and structural control in two open pits implemented in low-grade porphyry copper systems. The functions developed, and that are related to what Rio Tinto needs in this specific role, involved the planning and management of geotechnical diamond drilling campaigns, drillcore geotechnical-structural logging, selection of samples for geomechanical tests, geotechnical and structural mapping of benches, slope scan with I-Site equipment, downhole optical and acoustic image capture management and structural mapping from satellite images. The results obtained from the collection and analysis of the geotechnical-structural information were used at different stages of the construction of the slopes, including the modification of the designs to avoid future instabilities, generation and update of structural models, and the improvement of development of the slopes.
- Other activities that were part of my role were: geotechnical conciliation of slopes, stability analysis with Rocsciense softwares, installation of geotechnical control instrument (prisms, piezometers, accelerometers, stakes), slope stability monitoring (Reutech and Groundprobe radars, Trimble and Leica total stations, and InSar satellite system), geophysical campaigns (electrical tomography), post earthquake and post-blasting inspections, planning of work in the vertical, definition of areas of risk of rock fall and geotechnical instabilities, generation of plans of geotechnical risk weekly and communication to the organization, weekly geotechnical report, training for mine operations personnel, geotechnical control of leaching piles and dumps.
Structural Geologist

- Structural geologist in charge of performing a structural analysis in one of the two pits of the Compañía Minera Lomas Bayas and its surroundings. The main objective of the work was to determine the geometry of the structural systems of the pit and the district from the mapping of benches, orthophotographies captured with drone and satellite images. The final result was a structural report and the generation of 3D surfaces of the structures, which were subsequently used in stability analysis and updating of structural models by the geotechnics team, geological interpretation for infill drilling campaigns by the area of geology and seismic risk analysis by external companies.
