Having worked on a cardiac ward for six years I have acquired the knowledge and nursing skills needed to be able to care, assess and support children and their families both medically and surgically. As an individual I am a warm and compassionate healthcare professional committed to providing the highest quality patient care. I am a hard working person with experience in delivering exceptional care to cardiac patients and their families.
Currently I am a band five registered nurse who promotes and demonstrates a high standard of nursing care by using evidence-based practice to plan, implement and evaluate care given to patients and their families. I have recently had experience in a band five to six role where I have expanded my skills and understanding further. This role has allowed me to develop my leadership and management skills and has given me more responsibility and exposure at a more senior and challenging level.
My knowledge in cardiology has been expanded over the last six years by attending any additional training that is offered. This includes study days such as the critical care course, cardiac study days, ECG study days and online courses and discussions.
I am an attentive nurse who always presents a high level of care and patient assistance during each shift. I have been told by my senior colleagues that I am a dedicated, motivation, driven and valued team member who always seeks opportunities to continuously improve and develop my knowledge and skills within the nursing profession. Although each shift is busy, I am always approachable making time to support and encourage students and newly qualified nurses on my ward, thus having been asked to mentor on many occasions
Healing Little Hearts Charity: "Liv's Camp" Vijayawada, India December 2021
•Healing Little Hearts is a UK based registered children's charity that provides free heart surgery (open heart surgery and interventional cardiac catheterisation) to babies and children in the developing parts of the world.
• November 27th- December 4th I was recently chosen to volunteer and take part in a camp in India where a record 29 free heart surgeries and 1 catheter intervention procedures were performed in just 5 days.
• I was able to volunteer along-side a dedicated team looking after, caring and supporting these patients and their families, both pre and post op and whilst over-coming the challenges such as lack of equipment and medications that the team faced.
• When attending these camps we also provide education and learning to enable the hospital, staff and families to care for these patients.
