Summary

In a coordinator capacity on country i have a very broad knowledge of the East Kimberley area and have a very good relationship with Ngarinyin traditional owners. Over the years i have worked with Nyaliga rangers at Elquestro station helping coordinate our seasonal trail openings. I have many skills to pass on and have trained many people in a large range of skills across my professional career from horticulture, Arborculture, chainsaw, boat operations, bush skills, bush knowledge, mountain extremes and especially wildlife knowledge.

I have good people skills through years of tour guiding and dealing with guests in good and bad situations in the Environmental officer roll on Mt Stirling.

I am very adverse to working remotely understanding the needs to prepare, check and maintain equipment especially, but also preparation for personnel needs and survival.

Work History

Environment and Rescue Coordinator

This was seasonal work from 2016 to 2023 and full-time 2024-25.

From 2016-24 I was employed seasonally as coxswain and tour guide and later years head guide and coxswain.

This job entailed multiple tours including driving the main tour boat the 'Wandjina' in the Chamberlain Gorge.

As a tour guide I had to have good knowledge of flora and fauna, geology, history and cultural knowledge of various degree. As a tour guide you also had to have good 4x4 skills and communication skills with your guests, team members and management.

As head guide i had the responsibility of training all new guides and coxswains along with getting Elquestros extensive walking trail network cleared, safe, signage and open seasonally.

As head coxswain i was responsible for getting all the boats for multiple tours clean, running and all gear serviced and in date along with boat surveys when scheduled. This also involved training coxswains and guides on the Chamberlain gorge cruise with knowledge of the waterways and boat handling skills of a 13m, 45 seated boat as well as small 5m boats with outboards.

In 2025 I was environmental rescue coordinator, this job entailed all aspects of the environment on Elquestro station from weed, silt, track, trail management to signage and crocodile management on a daily basis. I was heavily involved in creating and maintaining the crocodile management plan and systems.

The job also covered first aid, fire and rescue. This involves working with various organisations under extreme circumstances of fire and rescue.

I have extensive knowledge of the area in all aspects and have helped researchers on various projects in the field.

Environmental Compliance Officer

This job was full-time but different rolls from winter months to summer.

Environmental officer was annually from October till following July, this job entailed the overall environmental management of Mt Buller and Mt Stirling where i did most my work.

In this roll I was an authorised officer for the resort management meaning we had the authority to fine people for wrong doing under the resort managements act.

As Environmental officer we did patrols and management of 64km of track and trail with multiple mountain huts to upkeep and maintain. The summer program was also ski trail and mountain bike trail maintenance and working in with researchers on various projects across the mountains.

Winter months from July to October were getting the Mt Stirling Ski Resort prepared for winter conditions, making sure all machinery, first aid, huts, trails, signage and base building were running, serviced, stocked, and maintained for extreme conditions.

The Ski Patrol job involved training volunteers and staff, daily snow reporting and patrolling 64kms of track and trail on various machinery including 4 wheel motorbike, tracked bike, skidoo, ATV and 4x4 vehicles.

We also had to have extensive knowledge in dealing with extremely large fallen trees under extreme conditions.

We worked with various organisations, Victorian police search and rescue, Mt Buller Ski Patrol and Victorian Ambulance service to provide a professional and safe environment for guests to the resort.
