A Receptionist is an enjoyable and self-committed work in which you commit yourself to serve the people of your country to have good customer services. Since 2019 when I first started practicing at Vanuatu Immigration Service, I have come to learn more and more about the importance of Goods customer services including clerical and administrative support. As a trainer in Vanuatu Immigration Service, I have gained knowledge about receptionist desk management. When dealing with customers at the Border Control desk in PEKOA International Airport our smile is the First thing that make them felt welcomed, I greed them and checked their passport and their Arrival card just to obtain information about incoming passenger not provided by the passenger's passport (such as health, criminal record and where they will be staying) In the office I am responsible for answering phone calls along with filling up Immigration Form when Customer demands a new passport, so I must check their ID's including giving them assistance fee invoices and explaining these processes. Once the Passport is ready, I am also in charge of giving them out and always make sure the Customers sign out before collecting it. It is the same when checking expatriate visas then giving them Visitors stamp if required and handing them over Residency Permit. Four months in Vanuatu Immigration Service has taught me about data entry, which was not too hard, but it needs more an exceptional attention to detail when entering it and in addition to all of that I have enriched my knowledge in computer skills. Next, I do some scanning and photocopying if necessary and finally I must ensure to file those entire important documents into their right places. A Receptionist's Job is not that hard but simple and needs commitment. When I finished my training session, I got employed in Silent World Shipping Company where I am working as a receptionist, a saleslady and a freight assistant. So far, I can say I am able to manage multiple tasks where I have accounts experience dealing with petty cash and receipts. In my current work place I am responsible for giving out phone calls and answering phone calls explaining to customers our Ship's routine, giving them Cargo freight when required, answering email, do the booking for passengers, freight cargo, call shops and inform them about when they should deliver cargo. I am also working on entering all outgoing cargo's invoice into a manifest and sending it to our manager and our Vila staff. I am also in charge of entering our creditor's invoices into MYOB and ensure to photocopy and scan all invoices and statements then send it to their Accounts payable so I can follow up with them every 30 days as it should be. I never grew up thinking, 'I want to be a professional Receptionist someday', but it does not surprise me that I ended up where I am either. I have no regrets taking that path; it has always been a passion of mine, whether I knew the correct title for the career. If my experience and education have taught me anything, it is that the world cannot function without Good customer's services. Having no professional services would result in an extremely disorganized world, unknown, inaccurate, or poor communication. Having no respectable receptionist would lead to a dull, monotonous society that ultimately never evolves. That said, I know what I can contribute truly benefits the world and more importantly, every Vanuatu Citizen in it.
