Vishal Mundeja

As a final year Bachelor of Nursing Science student with two years of practical experience in a nursing home environment, I have developed a solid foundation in patient care and healthcare operations. My clinical placements have provided me with hands-on exposure to various acute nursing wards, including the general medical ward, day surgery unit, and stroke & neurology unit. These experiences have honed my skills in acute patient care, interdisciplinary collaboration, and patient management. I am particularly enthusiastic about the upcoming nursing internship, especially due to the potential allocation in the ICU, where I am eager to expand my critical care knowledge and contribute to high-stakes patient care environments.

Ward 4A, Stroke/Neurology/Delirium unit, 04/2024 - 05/2024 (160 hours)

Sunshine Coast University Hospital, Birtiniya QLD.

• Successfully completed the assigned clinical placement hours, and worked alongside the RNs to deliver patient centered cares to patients suffering from stroke, neurological conditions, and delirium.
• Learned in depth about the QLD Health protocols about the management of different kinds of stroke, neurological disorders, and delirium.
• Attended educational sessions from senior clinical nurses and doctors about Parkinson's disease and learned the use of pharmacological interventions for the same.
• Actively participated in a multidisciplinary team, and advocated for patient's needs.
• Effectively utilized advanced nursing assessment skills, including the performance of 12-lead ECGs and the management of telemetry devices.

Ward 2A, Extended day surgery unit (EDSU), 10/2023 (120 hours)

• Successfully completed the assigned clinical placement hours, and worked alongside buddy RNs to deliver patient-centered care and implement pre-op and post-op protocols as per QLD Health guidelines.
• Closely monitored and provided nursing cares to patients after cataract surgery, fracture fixation, appendectomy, and many others surgical procedures.
• Conducted pre-operative assessments, including patient history and vital signs.
• Assisted in preparing patients for surgery and ensuring informed consent.
• Provided post-operative care, including pain management, wound care, and patient education.

Ward 4FW, Medical, 10/2023 (120 hours)

Nambour General Hospital, QLD.

• Successfully completed the assigned clinical placement hours, and worked alongside buddy RNs to deliver patient-centered care and implement pre-op and post-op protocols as per QLD Health guidelines.
• Took care of patients with chronic illnesses and help improve patient outcomes with core nursing skills.
• Accomplished safe medication administration including IV, IM and Subcutaneous.
• Conducted successful nursing assessments, and assisted patients with ADLs.
• Provided ISBAR handover and maintained proper documentation.
• Worked in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team with professionalism and active participation.

Blue care aged care facility, 12/2022 (120 hours)

• Successfully completed the assigned clinical placement hours, and worked alongside buddy RNs, ENs and PCWs to provide nursing care to the residents.
