Viviktha Sudarshan

A provisional psychologist, who has recently completed Master of Educational and Developmental Psychology and who is awaiting final results and general registration. Has experience working with a range of individuals across the lifespan and possesses excellent communication skills and professionalism when liaising with clients and stakeholders. Holds exceptional problem-solving and abstract thinking skills, with a proven ability to analyze problems, identify possible solutions, and initiate and carry through action plans.

2022

Across the first year of the Master of Educational and Developmental Psychology course I have undertaken various professional practice activities;

• The Okey Dokey Social Groups program (21st and 28th of April) where I gained experience co-facilitating vacation time groups to assist in improving social communication skills in children. This allowed me to work with children from a variety of different ages (Grades prep to Year 6).
• The Sleep Assessment Service (7th of August) where I gained experience in providing feedback sessions to participants of varying ages, based on their sleep assessment outcomes. I also provided participants with relevant psychoeducation on their sleep.
• The School Based Assessment – WJ-IV Learning Profile (1st and 8th of August) where I gained experience in administering the WJ-IV to secondary school students, scoring and interpreting their WJ-IV results, writing a brief summary report and noting down observations.
• The Krongold Clinic Triage and Clinical Support (weekly once from the 16th of August to 11th of November). My duties included handling intake calls with clients, managing clinical administration responsibilities (including replying/sending emails to clients, answering/making phone calls to clients) and taking part in client assessment observations.

Psychological Assessment

• Familiar with intake and feedback processes relating to psychological assessment.
• Familiar with administering select cognitive and educational achievement assessments (WISC-V, WJ-IV and WIAT-III)

Intervention and Counselling

• Knowledge of principles underpinning CBT, ACT and mindfulness
• Simulated counselling experience using Egan’s model
• Experience developing and facilitating group interventions in school/private practice settings

Ethical, Legal & Professional Obligations

• Awareness of the ethical and legal obligations for psychologists in Victoria
• Familiarity with the APS Code of Ethics and associated Guidelines

Communication Skills

• Having previously worked as a behaviour therapist, I have experience in liaising with a variety of stakeholders, including; clients, parents, teachers and other health professionals.
• Experience in delivering feedback to clients in the form of both oral and written reports.
• Experience in building rapport with a variety of individuals from different ages and backgrounds.

Practice Across the Lifespan

• Experience working with client groups aged 3-6 years with ASD
• Experience working with secondary school children in Year 7, administering assessments
• Experience working with older adults with disabilities in an aged care setting
• Experience working with primary school children, administering cognitive assessments
• Experience working with first-year university students as a peer mentor
