  • Ability to obtain, prepare and provide diets for a range of species in accordance with established diet plans, feeding schedules and procedures
  • Ability to accurately administer medication, dietary supplements, and preventative medicine
  • Monitoring, observing, and reporting on animal behaviour and changes to the condition of animals that may indicate illness or injury
  • Assisting with implementation and monitoring of behavioural enrichment, and operant training/conditioning programs to affect animal behaviour and to allow routine examinations and procedures without distress

  • Capture and restraint of a variety of species ranging from macropods to small passerines
  • Maintaining enclosures housing sick animals, or animals undergoing treatment and executing infection control procedures
  • Knowledge and ability to identify and collect a range of browse species suitable for native birds and mammals, as well as exotic species
