• 2018, Led the development and implementation of HSE, Risk and Quality Management Systems for a $USD 20 bn development of new mine, port, rail, and renewable infrastructure projects. Achieved accreditation to National Rail Safety Regulator (ONRSR), ISO Management Standards, and compliance with an unprecedented level of regulation and approval requirements.
• 2017, Chosen by Australian mining industry bodies to represent Australia at the International Labour Organization in Geneva Switzerland for the Tripartite Meeting of Experts for the Global Code of Practice for Health & Safety in Open Cast Mines. Voted by international peers as the chairperson of Employer Group, to lead negotiations and consultations in both plannery and tripartite sessions.
• 2013, Shared deep dive learnings globally, to initiate a fatality prevention program and communities of practice, leading the implementation of control improvements that reduced fatality potential incidents by 30% in 2 years.
• 2010, Established leadership teams, performance objectives and metrics, to improve project safety leadership across a $US 30bn portfolio of infrastructure projects. Achieved 71% reduction in TRIFR, and 83% reduction in High Potential Incidents in 3 years with >5 million construction hours worked. Won Safe Work Australia, Leadership in Safety Award.

• BHP (GLOBAL), GROUP PRINCIPAL SAFETY (6-month Contract), 03/01/24, Present, Global role on the group Health, Safety and Security team leading global safety programs and providing subject matter expertise for global safety and critical risk management standards., Global coordination of BHP’s Fatality Elimination Program (FEL), leading a global network of FEL leaders and subject matter experts to implement step change control improvements, for BHP’s top 10 fatality risks., Led the fatal risk and critical control simplification project, redesigning the global occupational safety risk framework to a hazardous energy and damage timeline control model., Global technical and design leader for BHP’s Fatal Energy Management and critical control frameworks, for the most represented damaging energies, including the design of critical control verification processes.
• NEWCREST MINING, GROUP HEAD OF SAFETY (Role made redundant), 11/01/21, 11/30/23, Leader of the safety function and subject matter expert for safety strategy, safety standards, operational risk management framework, major hazard management, critical control management, safety assurance and incident management for mining operations, projects and exploration across Newcrest’s global operations., A start-up role to reconfigure the safety function into a global Centre of Excellence (CoE), with a revised service delivery and business partnering model., Developed, initiated, and hosted communities of practice for each Major Hazard to develop major hazard performance standards for the group, in consultation with each community., Based on deep dive analysis of incident experiences, developed major hazard control improvement programs for Falls, Vehicle Interactions, and Lifting Operations, implemented by working groups across the business, to significantly reduce the number of high potential incidents involving these hazards., Developed the first global Safety Standard and specifications for vehicle interactions, fall of a person, falling objects and lifting operations, collaborating with subject matter experts, internally and externally across heavy industries in Australia, the USA and Canada., Designed, initiated, and implemented a quality assurance process for critical control verifications, that became a quality toll gate for the verifications to be counted in Newcrest’s short term incentive program., Initiated, developed, and led the 'safe hands', hand safety campaign, conducting focus groups with high-risk work teams across the business, to identify and deliver improvements in awareness, tooling, and work design, resulting in a 57% reduction in hand injuries, which reduced TRIFR by 28% over a 2-year period., Performed bowtie risk analysis of Top 15 fatal risks, using internal and industry fatality / potential fatality information, including best practice control measures. Led an integrated assurance team that engaged with front-line leaders to perform on-site control testing / assurance, assisting sites with addressing gaps identified, which led to rapid improvements in the risk control environment at the most at-risk sites.
• BHP (MINERALS AUSTRALIA), PRINCIPAL RISK AND COMPLIANCE (Casual Contract), 01/01/20, 11/30/21, Provide risk leadership for execution of the 'Future Fit Academy Project', including analysis and management of change for all risk control improvements, changes to workforce arrangements, procurement of plant, fit out of training & repair centres, new trade competencies, and new technologies, across BHP’s Australian Assets., Led risk management, management of change and assurance program, for the construction and fit-out of two trade training and repair centres, including relocation and installation of fixed and heavy mobile mining plant, that ensured zero incidents and non-compliances, for the future fit academy project., Performed detailed strategic risk analysis and developed the strategic risk management strategy, including actions for BHPs maintenance redesign project, engaging with regulators, unions, operational leaders, trainees and affected workforces, across BHP’s Minerals Australia, resulting in reduced integration time, zero non-compliances, no industrial disruption, and no incidents, despite significant identified risk issues., Worked with operational teams, original equipment manufacturers, suppliers of tooling and industry bodies, to establish industry leading human factors centred design for tooling, handling equipment, work practices and training, to improve safety for fixed and mobile plant maintenance activities on BHP mines.
• ADANI GROUP, GENERAL MANAGER HEALTH SAFETY AND SECURITY (2-Year Contract), 01/01/16, 03/31/18, Reporting to the CEO, to lead Health, Safety, Security (HSS) and Quality aspects of all Adani businesses, operations and projects, in Australia. The role also provided direct support to the global enterprise. Member of the executive leadership team, and project steering committee, the $USD 16bn Carmichael Coal Project., Worked with other executives and project partners, to overcome the seemingly insurmountable challenges, of the Carmichael Coal Project, achieving all internal and external project approvals, responding rapidly to a constantly changing project delivery model, approval requirements and disruptions by issue groups., Developed HSS, quality and core process management standards, for the business, including the Carmichael Coal Project, achieving accreditation with ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and compliance with mine, rail, port legal requirements. Engaged providers and led the deployment of new information systems for safety, contractor management, workforce management, legal compliance, and accreditations., Engaged with assistant police commissioners, regional senior police, state, local and federal government representatives, media, environmental and cultural groups and established strategic security plan and measures that enabled Adani to navigate an unprecedented threat environment from issue motivated groups.
