In addition to the tasks performed by environmental health officers in general, below are tasks undertaken by me in my role as a Senior Environmental Health Officer.

• Review health-related policies and procedures for environmental projects.
• Provided advice on potential health risks associated with proposed development plans.
• Advise stakeholders and the public on best practice approaches to managing public health risks.
• Collaborated with other professionals in order to deliver the best outcomes for public health.
• Coordinated efforts between different departments in order to resolve ongoing environmental problems.
• Provided information to government representatives, employers, and general public groups on issues of public health concern.
• Perform sampling and monitoring of soil bacteria, radiation, magnetic field levels, air quality, and water-related illnesses.
• Provide support to Team Leaders by monitoring incoming emails, incoming telephone communications, mentoring staff members through complex investigations, reviewing and providing feedback on investigation reports, and warning and natural justice letters.

My role as an Environmental Health Officer included but is not limited to the tasks below.

• Conducted inspections of food establishments to ensure compliance with relevant health regulations.
• Monitored environmental conditions and reported on any potential hazards or risks.
• Carried out risk assessments in hazardous environments, such as chemical plants and factories.
• Investigated complaints from the public regarding environmental health issues.
• Provided advice to businesses on how to reduce their environmental impact.
• Collaborated with local authorities to develop strategies for improving air and water quality in the area.
• Prepared reports detailing the findings of investigations, including providing recommendations to reduce the risks to public health
• Followed up on complaints and investigated outbreaks of food poisoning and infectious disease.
• Investigated cases of suspected infectious disease outbreaks in order to contain them quickly.
• Responded quickly to emergency situations involving environmental health risks.

I have acted in the Team Leader role on many occasions due to the absence of Team Leaders on normal or extended leave and during COVID due to the unit's increased workload and additional staff numbers.
