Currently working as a HIMS Officer - Switchboard and Patient Enquiries and Reception at Rockingham General Hospital. Nightshift switchboard officer covers the management of the after hours NEC switchboard, reception duties and ward clerk which include the inputting and outcoming of maternity assessments, registration of all births and deaths, completion of the whole hospital inpatient census report, update care types and consultant changes for both Rockingham and Murray Districts Hospital, the opening and closing of beds for the bed manager. I manage all the inpatient admissions, transfers, bed moves, temporary leave and discharges after hours on WEBPAS and am solely responsible for the correct activation of the emergency codes process and paging system utilising DURASUITE. I am the first point of contact for both the public, internal hospital personnel and outside government and private agencies and confidently direct them to the appropriate service.
Dayshift switchboard I Work as part of a team that manages the main reception desk and the whole hospital internal and external calls, emergency codes and paging system. I average a call rate of about 70 calls an hour, regularly handling 500 calls per dayshift.
