Case study of Corporate Financial Policy: Sinapore Airlines

Analyse how changing Singapore Airlines' capital structure impacts costs, considering scenarios of borrowing for stock buybacks and selling stock to reduce debt, and potential concerns about stock buybacks.

• Participants worked in teams of three to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the impact of Singapore Airlines' capital structure, tax adjustments, and stock buybacks.
• Sensitivity analysis was performed by calculating financial ratios and cost of capital.
• Illustrate the relationship between changes in debt and changes in stock prices by calculating the new stock prices after the issuance of $1 billion of debt and $5 billion of debt, and the D/E ratio, respectively.
• Evaluate the pros and cons of stock buybacks using relevant theories and research.
