Vice President of Hardware Engineering

  • Responsible for transformational change in technical performance of the WDTS hardware department, including engineering and internal production.
  • Daily management of the engineering and production teams to create a culture that is accountable and quality focussed with strong emphasis of fostering healthy work-life balance for all employees.
  • Led the recruitment processes to fill 7 key roles to grow the team from 11 to 18, hiring talented people into key positions to support company growth and to ensure management and leadership for all engineering disciplines.
  • Managed communication pathways between the hardware team and the broader organisation to help minimise priority changes, reduce conflicting requests, ensure visibility of project status, while working to deliver projects on time.


Key Achievements:

  • Setup and managed the engineering office and production facilities (access control, security, employee work areas, lighting, inventory management and production flow).
  • Established product development phases, identifying tasks performed in each phase and training team members.
  • Introduced project management starting with basic rituals including a whole team daily stand-up and then migrating to the Kanban with time tracking.
  • Established new processes and operating procedures to streamline the development process and improve quality.
  • Invested in CAD upgrades including Solidworks PDM for part data management, migrating to Altium 365 including library migration, investing in CAD connectors to Arena PLM to support formalising the change management and release process.
  • Identified the urgent needs for improving OHS and WHS and overseeing this process from audit to implementation. This included: first aid training, safe chemical practices, heavy lifting and moving safety, Safe Operating Procedures, creating awareness about hazards, having an incident book and fire evacuation plans.

Director of Engineering – Amplification and Special Projects

  • Technology leader responsible for planning and strategising opportunities to expand Biamp’s product portfolio into new and existing markets.
  • Responsible for translating product managements high level vision into world class products in the areas of professional audio amplification and camera technologies.
  • Led engineering in the areas of project management, systems engineering, strategic leadership, external vendor selection and management, and internal resource management for projects that involve software and hardware product deliverables.
  • Concurrently led three large NPD projects with multiple external vendors across a diversity of time zones.
  • Daily management of the Sweden amplifier team and mixed-discipline team members in Australia, USA, Europe, as well as external relationships in Italy and China.


Key Achievements:

  • Achieving approval on Biamp’s amplification strategy that started with Voltera A. Led the technology, systems engineering and external partners to deliver four new amplifier products within a nine-month timeframe - the most powerful and flexible in their class.
  • Provided strategic leadership to Biamp’s EMT to establish core competency in audio amplifier technology development. The outcome was EMT sponsorship and my leadership for the recruitment of seven key resources and the establishment of a Biamp Sweden office.
  • The origins were a ‘well-funded’ start-up, with the strategy of rapid new technology development, targeting four products to be delivered within 18-months. The Sweden team continued to grow in resources over the course of the project.
  • Managed the Sweden amplifier team remotely, in addition to a software development team in Italy, and Biamp project engineering team across 5 global offices to develop the:
  • Voltera D professional audio amplifier series, and
  • VenueTurn software and ALAMOS loudspeaker library


  • Systems engineer role responsible for Biamp’s high performance meeting room solutions including:
  • Parlé VBC 2800 with dual 50MP camera, and
  • Vidi 280 with dual 50MP camera.

  • Responsible for creating formal tenders up to $10M AUD for Australian Manufacturing and Space Grants with specific focus on relationships with Boeing Space and Rheinmetall Defence.

  • Led and managed the Burrana Hardware team responsible for electrical/electronic, mechanical and NPI engineering resources through next generation avionics new product development.
  • Managed all hardware NPI activities with 17 direct reports specialising in mechanical, electrical/electronic, test and technical. The team is geographically dispersed between Australia, USA and Mexico.
  • Led and managed NPI activities including procurement, product development, production, test, verification and validation.
  • Managed engineering transition activities with software, systems and workflows in support of the Rockwell Collins IFE acquisition.
  • Establishing process and procedures to support company growth and OEM requirements (Airbus and Boeing).


Key Achievements:

  • Presented white paper to Airbus regarding 48V DC as a safe extra low voltage for seat row distribution. Later achieving approval.
  • Grew the development team and providing hands on leadership to progress the team towards high performing.
  • Led three programs with seven concurrent new projects involving local and international resources including contractors to support the aggressive development schedules.
  • Established relationships with offshore manufacturing partners to provide lower cost parts for product development and value engineering sustainment activities.

  • Led teams through the design, implementation, and testing of the electrical and mechanical aspects of products applicable to the design, provisioning, commissioning, control, and monitoring of media transportation and processing systems.
  • Created discipline-specific design principles, methodologies and standards and manage implementation of these norms across the global engineering group.
