A focused and ambitious PhD student with an interest in Entomology. Currently undertaking a PhD in Zoology and specialising in West Indian Drywood Termites. Possesses strong analytical and research skills developed through academic practice, voluntary placements and laboratory positions. Able to work independently and as part of a wider team. Great communication skills benefiting interpersonal practice and willing to broaden knowledge in all areas. Focused and hardworking with an adaptable work ethic. Passionate about the life sciences and experience in a wide range of fields including ecology, taxonomy and statistical analysis.
My main interest is, and always has been, in the study of animals. I have worked in many different fields to gain experience and knowledge of all kinds of animals. The projects I chose to undertake at University reflect this broad attitude, including microbial pathology and genetic engineering on moth larvae, to behavioural ecology on rodents in the wild. This passion is also closely linked to my interest in science; science has always been an interest of mine and I thrive on the ever-changing and innovative ways of thinking and approaching our world. With these two interests, areas such as animal anatomy, behaviour, ecology, taxonomy and conservation are of great interest to me. My experience to date has allowed me to focus my interests to more specific work with insects. I was able to gain experience and greater understanding in working with these groups during my time in a laboratory studying parasitoid wasps at Chulalongkorn University. This internship taught me a number of skills relating to entomology and cemented my decision to complete further research in this field.
