Work History

Technical Engineering Lead

Viortec
10.2024 - Current
  • My primary role so far has been in developing Design & Development (D&D) Process for the company
  • This involved many specific tasks that contributed to the development of the overall D&D process specific to the needs and requirements of the company, that focused on creating a lean workflow that enables quick iteration, allowing designs to move efficiently from ideation to manufacturing
  • My task involved researching various D&D methodologies and creating a customised process suited to the company’s scale, resources, and workflows
  • I am currently creating documentation for each D&D stage to ensure regulatory compliance while capturing essential design and review data
  • Furthermore, I am ensuring structured documentation is maintained to retain critical design insights, streamline team collaboration, and support efficient decision-making

STEM Cadet

CASG (Capabilities Acquisition and Sustainment Group)
07.2023 - 07.2024
  • I worked here as a STEM cadet under the AIR6502 Team
  • I worked on several different areas including requirements analysis, requirements writing, writing, and proof-reading engineering documents and assisting with other tasks to support the team in meeting project specific deadlines
  • Gained experience in writing and editing critical documents linking directly to project specific outcomes.
  • Followed protocols and procedures to perform tasks quickly and minimise mistakes.

Research Assistant

University of Canberra
04.2023 - 11.2023
  • I worked as a research assistant at the Collaborative Robotics lab in UC under Damith Herath
  • I worked on two projects here which focused on robotic art
  • The first project was designing and building a Hexapod for a choreographic display that emulates animalistic behaviours and the second was manipulating two robotic arms to engage in a choreographic dialogue to personify human intimacy
  • This work involved circuit design, power system design, CAD design for components of the robot, python programming, ROS implementation, and mechanical design

Technical intern

Vibedynamics
11.2022 - 06.2023
  • I cannot disclose specific details of my work due to signing a restrictive NDA
  • The work involved developing a new medical aid device prototype
  • I worked on developing this prototype for the initial stage of testing to validate the concept
  • The tasks involved BLE communication, Arduino programming, PCB design & CAD (Fusion 360)

Engineering R&D Project

CGA (Centre for Gravitational Astrophysics)
07.2021 - 11.2021
  • This project involved making a fibre optic interferometer for sub-micron scale vibrational sensing
  • I had to design and assemble a fibre-optic interferometer for which I had to learn about fibre-optics and understand key principles in signal processing, interferometry, optical alignment, FPGA programming and data and signal processing using Matlab
  • This project concluded with the successful design and arrangement of a fibre optic interferometer that was capable of detecting signals in the sub-micron scale with minimal cross-talk
  • I also gained valuable report writing and presentation skills from this project

Engineering R&D Project

Research school of Physics NEMS Team
02.2021 - 05.2021
  • This project focused on attempting to create a monolayer substrate and characterising its properties for its use in Nanoelectromechanical systems
  • I gained experience in exfoliating MoS2 bulk material into thinner layers and characterising potential samples using SHG technique (a Non-linear optical characterising technique)
  • The project concluded with a successful characterisation of 8 samples which could be used by the team for further experimentation

EQUS Summer Internship Program

11.2020 - 02.2021
  • The objective was to design, simulate and test a tuneable microwave bandpass filter for quantum sensing applications
  • The design and simulation parts were done virtually via zoom
  • For the design I used Fusion 360 AutoCAD and for the simulation I used COMSOL Multiphysics
  • The design and simulation gave me key insights into the standard engineering process of designing based on technical specification
  • I was also learnt about waveguides and microwave transmission/reflectivity profile analysis
  • The testing and construction was done in person, hence I had to travel to UQ and stay in Brisbane for 2 weeks
  • I gained valuable knowledge regarding quantum computers and was able to work with one
  • I also got hands on experience with assembling equipment, soldering SMA ports and using a Network analyser
  • The final design did not produce the desired results due to reasons unknown, however it did provide a lot of valuable insights into designing future bandpass filters

Summer Scholars Research Project

Diamond Quantum Science Team
12.2019 - 02.2020
  • Performed a computer simulation modelling a sophisticated electromagnet that was to be used in NMR spectroscopy and sensitive quantum microscopy
  • Gained experience working with COMSOL (multiphysics) simulation package
  • Gained valuable researching skills in finding different techniques to achieve the end goal
