YIRAN LIU

VVREN is an independent, after-dark gallery space showcasing a curated selection of local and international artworks from multidisciplinary artists. Co-founded by my partner and me, the gallery was built from the ground up — from interior design and renovation to sourcing, artist collaboration, and operational management.

We handled every aspect of the business, including marketing, merchandising, and community engagement, with the goal of creating an accessible, inclusive space that supports and celebrates diverse artistic expression from around the world.

VVREN’s distinct oriental aesthetic and thoughtful spatial design have drawn significant attention, and the gallery was proudly featured in Broadsheet Magazine for its unique concept and cultural contribution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Curating and coordinating interdisciplinary exhibitions, integrating themes of art, history, science, and social studies to deliver immersive visitor experiences.
• Collaborating with artists and institutions to develop compelling exhibitions that attracted a diverse and growing audience.
• Actively networking at local and international creative events to discover emerging talents and expand our artistic portfolio.
• Contributing to strategic planning, helping shape the gallery’s programming direction, collection development, and long-term growth.

My role there is to help delivering high end architectural metalwork products (building facades, architectural features) to Tier 1 Builders in Victoria. General contractual work is design-and-construct based.

Key Responsibilities

• Developed 3D models of custom architectural products using Autodesk Inventor and SolidWorks in accordance with architectural and engineering specifications.
• Produced detailed sheet metal manufacturing drawings, aligned with in-house production capabilities (e.g. 4kW laser cutter, 100t brake press, 4m rollers, V-groove machinery).
• Designed and executed structural testing plans to meet engineering requirements and performance standards.
• Ensured all products complied with the Building Code of Australia (BCA), the Building Act & Regulations, and relevant Australian Standards.
• Collaborated with external engineers to manage the design certification process and guarantee technical compliance.

Project Management

• Analyzed and proposed value-for-money design solutions in collaboration with architects, engineers, builders, and production teams.
• Coordinated material procurement aligned with design specifications and project timelines.
• Adapted designs based on client feedback to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction

Key Responsibilities

• Contributed valuable insights during collaborative design workshops and brainstorming sessions, resulting in innovative solutions and improved project outcomes.
• Worked closely with architects, engineers, and designers to develop comprehensive construction documentation, ensuring design intent was accurately translated into buildable solutions.
• Created detailed 3D visualizations and presentation models to help clients clearly understand and engage with proposed designs, enhancing decision-making and project alignment.
