Executive Assistant to the President and Bar Council

  • Accountability for the management, delivery and accuracy of all aspects of executive support required by and delivered to the President and Bar Council, including email and diary planning and management, travel, correspondence, reporting.
  • Accountability for the management, delivery and accuracy of Bar Council meeting agendas, resolutions, minutes and action items.
  • Coordinating speeches, honours in confidence, speaking notes, obituaries and notices for ceremonial occasions.
  • Coordination of Silks and committee appointment processes.
  • Draft letters to honoured guests and VIPs for the Bar dinner and assist with event coordination as required.
  • Bar Council elections and other ad hoc research and support.
  • Preparation of election material and management of nominations and post-election tasks.
  • Liaison between the Bar and external stakeholders including the Courts, judiciary, Attorneys-General offices, Legal Services Board and Commissioner, other legal profession bodies.
  • Provide ad hoc support to the Australian Bar Association (ABA) and other legal profession bodies as required and/or requested by the Executive Director/President.
  • Annual General Meeting /Special General Meeting (AGM/SGM) coordination.
  • Advise on various protocols in written materials, including forms of address, order of precedence and adherence to the style guide.
  • Provide advice and administrative support as to matters of governance and company secretary support as required and requested by the Executive Director.
  • Support the ongoing digital/website content review and management as relevant to the President, Bar Council and committees.
  • Annual Bar Council calendar coordination.
  • Coordinate the Committee EOI and appointment process for the annual committee appointments.
  • EA to ED to provide support as required.
  • Coordinate the Preliminary Evaluation Committee (PEC) process including meetings, resources, coordination with the Supreme Court, preparation of reports and all administrative support.
  • Coordinate Letters Patent for Senior Counsel.
  • Manage and deliver obituaries in accordance with the Protocol.
  • Provide support, research and advice to the VicBar President in relation to Honours-in-Confidence enquiries.
