Yorygios Bitsikas Filactos

I am a determined young man with many skills and interests and always up for a challenge. I have dedicated several years of my life to learning and teaching the Greek language and traditions to younger and older students. I have my Bronze medallion, SRC ( surf rescue certificate), first aid certificate from Cooks Hill Surf Club and am still an active member in beach patrol. I believe that I will perform with flying colours in the Australian defence force and it is my next step.

• Facilitated Improvement in my youth soccer team by enacting an attitude of determination and teamwork .
• Supervised team of 15 youth players.
• Coordinated with lead teacher to create age-appropriate lesson plans for students.
• Achieved an overall grade of %85 through effectively helping with the class with problem areas such as pronunciation.
• Achieved dux of the geek community school of language 4 years in a row (2015-2019)
• I had come first in the state for the mereweather high school of community languages for 3 consecutive years
• Played in the U/18s side when I was 15
• Obtained the smith trust award, which is an award that is given to those who show respect, determination and hard work.

• I enjoy fishing as it allows for relaxation and mental stimulation, i had picked up fishing through my older brother and father and have enjoyed it ever since,
• I have picked up spearfishing during the pandemic as a way to provide fresh fish to my grandparents and other old relatives who were worried about catching the virus, i have now found to enjoy it more as a sport and a challenge ever since the pandemic has passed.
• I have recently picked up target marksmanship when my brother and i had both received our certificates to operate firearms, I have always been interested in firearms and marksmanship
• I go hunting with my older brother who shows me correct hunting techniques for specific animals such as, foxes, rabbits, hairs and wild pigs. We mostly go on relatives properties to assist in pest control
• I also enjoy camping as it allows for me to relax but also poses challenges to keep me mentally aware
• I enjoy reading and building small scale models about WWII and early cold war equipment, mainly tanks and APCs
