Training Support Officer

  • Coordinate the organisation of specified disaster management education courses including database management, panelling, speakers, venue preparation, catering, collation and distribution of pre reading packages and course information, and administrative facilitation at the course.
  • Travelling around the state coordinating DPMD education courses for medical staff in all different regions. This includes for participants from WA Country Health Service, St John Ambulance, Royal Flying Doctor Service and mining companies in rural areas where communities have a higher risk.
  • Receive, process, and complete analysis of collated information from evaluation surveys, and develops reports and recommendations for all DPMD education courses.
  • Maintains effective liaison and communication with health personnel, the public, community groups, and other key stakeholders.
  • Maintains the Training and Development area of the DPMD website and assists with maintenance of the website in general. Also, participate in internal and external meetings, including workshops as required.

  • Only point of contact of the Covid treatments team through email and phone for majority of the week. This trust and responsibility meant I was on-call over weekends for emergency outbreaks throughout Western Australia to assist an deliver emergency stock.

  • Health deployment to high school Leavers in Dunsborough, W.A in November 2022 and 2024. This included, organisation of medical triage and providing general first aid. Deploying all stock and equipment to various locations. Effectively liaising and working alongside SJA, WAPOL, DFES, and the Western Australia Medical Assistance Team (WAMAT) as a porter
  • Health deployment to Exmouth, W.A, for the total solar eclipse in April 2023
  • Fundamental part of the logistics team deploying 15 tons of medical equipment from our headquarters in Perth. On arrival, setting up a field hospital to assist the excess tourism in the town, in conjunction with the Exmouth hospital as a redundancy for medical emergencies during this surge
  • In this deployment, I effectively communicated and worked in the WAMAT, and high-ranking firefighters to successfully complete Western Australia's Department of Health's biggest deployment to date
