Teachingphilosophy

My philosophy is that children need a safe, supportive environment to be adventurous learners. The unique knowledge brought into the classroom by each individual must be considered and drawn upon when teaching. It is only when this accepted individuality is accessed that a community of learning begins. I aim to co-construct this environment with the aid of the students, develop a curriculum alongside their needs, promote cooperative learning, inquiry, and play that will engage in the student and support their ability to succeed. Like the classroom the community is a necessary space for learning. I aim to promote community engagement and draw upon the knowledge of whanau, and community members to develop an extensive understanding of knowledge. This commitment to showcasing multiple disciplines will, I believe, create a love of learning, a sense of validation, and a support network in my students.
