During my internship at China Eastern Airlines, I participated in the development and optimization of a baggage handling system model aimed at improving the efficiency and accuracy of baggage handling processes. The model simulates the transportation routes of baggage to optimize the flow of baggage within the terminal, reducing the likelihood of baggage loss and delays.

Key Responsibilities:

• Requirements Analysis & System Design: Collaborated with team members to analyze bottlenecks in the baggage handling process and designed the initial framework for the baggage handling system, defining system functionalities and optimization goals.
• Data Collection & Analysis: Collected real-world operational data related to baggage handling, including processing times and route congestion, to build a historical dataset for baggage transport.
• Model Development & Optimization: Developed a simulation model using Python based on historical data, simulating baggage flow under various transportation routes and time periods. The model was optimized multiple times to ensure accurate predictions of baggage arrival times.
• System Validation & Testing: Participated in system validation by comparing model results with actual operational data, assessing the model's accuracy and reliability. The model effectively predicted issues in baggage transportation and provided optimization recommendations.
• Results & Impact: The baggage handling system model successfully reduced baggage processing time by 20% under certain conditions, and significantly decreased the risk of baggage misrouting and loss. It provided valuable data support for the airline’s operational management.
