Project Experience

Smart Shunt for Battery Management System

  • Developed a shunt based on STM32 micro processor and TI BQ34Z100-g1 battery gas gauge to measure the battery voltage, current, power, SOC, capacity, internal temperature and estimate the average time to full/empty, and count the cycles and passed charge power. The shunt communicates with charger and control panel by CAN bus.
  • Main tasks include hardware circuit design, PCB layout and assembling, CAN communication protocol setting, STM32 micro processor programming, calibration and configuration of BQ34Z100 using BQ Studio and conducting learning cycles to generate gold file, building a test rig to test the SOC accuracy and CAN bus communication.


RF Signal Fault Detector - For Sydney M6 Tunnel Underground GPS System Project

  • Design a device to monitor the GPS signal output from a GPS emulator used for an underground GPS system. Measure and report the RF strength and GPS reading to the tunnel server via Ethernet. Additionally, implement a mechanism to activate/deactivate the RF radiation device in the closet upon detecting serious faults, and transmit alarm signals to the tunnel PLCs.
  • Develop the product from start to finish, including circuit design, PCB layout, firmware design, functional and reliability testing, factory acceptance testing, and documentation.
