  • Company Overview: After the dissolution of a partnership with Charles Appleton in 1838, David Jones moved his retail business to premises on the corner of George Street to survive the depression of the 1840s. Forced out of retirement to manage a failing business, he finally discharged all obligations to his creditors. A mail order facility was introduced and a factory was opened to reduce reliance on imported goods and in 1906, David Jones Ltd became a public company.
  • I was promoted to undertake these responsibilities as a result of my high performance standards where I relieved in various areas across the store. This included Ladieswear, Menswear, Children's Shoes, Ladies Accessories and occasionally Cosmetics.
