Drama and English Teacher

  • Taught Drama and English to students in years 7, 8, 9 and 10, assessing against the Australian Curriculum.
  • Planned and facilitated a 4 day workshop with Sydney's leading theatre for young people, "Australian Theatre for Young People". This workshop was lead by Sydney based professional actor Tom Filer and held in person at Seaford Secondary College, with 20 student attendees from year 8 to Year 10.
  • Wrote and directed the 2023 Seaford School Musical.
  • Organised and directed the "Year 8 Performing Arts Night", in collaboration with the Music Teacher, with attendance from the Seaford Secondary Community.
  • Wrote and directed the Year 10 production.
  • Created and devised the "Creative Arts Stage 1" course, implementing this with Year 10 students.
  • Organised and facilitated an excursion to State Theatre Company for their performance of "Every Brilliant Thing".
  • Developed innovative lesson plans to engage students in English language learning.
  • Created English Units (Year 7 and 8), which were then implemented by all Year 7 and 8 English staff.
  • Regularly contact parents of all classes (and care group), to maintain attendance and ensuring students are on-track.
  • Created OnePlans for students requiring differentiation.

  • Produce and direct theatre productions for Young People aged 15 - 26, across Adelaide. Over the past 6 years, I have produced 11 productions with Deadset Theatre Company, working with over 100 young people in various theatrical roles.
  • Communicate with theatres, hirers, and other personnel to plan productions and organise theatre events.
  • Directed/acted/produced productions that have been nominated for numerous awards with the Theatre Association of South Australia (3 nominations for Best Drama).
  • Tour productions to schools across South Australia, offering drama workshops to students after the production.
  • Write and direct original scripts that are based on the stories of young people, whilst giving numerous young people the opportunity to perform in a semi-professional theatre company.
  • Produce showcases, allowing emerging writers, performers and directors the chance to show their work to a larger audience.
  • Liaise with professional industry members to mount productions.

  • Assistant directed five major productions (both Musical and Drama productions). These productions included up to 100 students.

  • Wrote an original script for HYT's 2020 production of "The Nutcracker", writing speaking roles for up to 100 students. Assistant directed this production.
