ZOE-SHADE MCKENZIE
I am a young determined indigenous Gunggari woman driven to succeed in my career. I have been working from a very young age and have experienced many different fields of work which has given me a wide variety of skills both physically and mentally challenging. Working in a variety of different positions has also given me great communication and people / language skills. I feel that becoming a correctional officer has allowed me to utilise my skills knowledge and excel further into my long term career goals. I hope to continue working within my chosen field of community corrections and case management
for indigenous and non indigenous clients. I am eager to continue to learn and progress in the corrective service system to better our communities.
I am relocating to Coffs harbour during the December school holidays. I have resided in Coffs Harbour for many years and attended part of my schooling at Coffs Harbour High. I have family that have resided here for 50 + years including sisters, grandparents, cousin, aunts and uncles.
Returning to Coffs Harbour has always been my long term goal with a plan to purchase a home and raise my children here. I am known and recognised within the Coffs Harbour community as an Indigenous woman. I am currently working towards finishing a Diploma in Case Management with only a work placement remaining to graduate. The expected completion date is December 2023.
