Care and Education of Children
• Responsible for achieving excellence in the care and education of the children in your service.
• Implement the principles of the National Quality Framework in collaboration with Long Day Care
Centre Manager and centre staff, including self-assessment, quality improvement planning and
critical reflection.
• Aim to achieve meeting or exceeding in all quality areas of the NQF.
• Responsible, in consultation with the Centre Manager and/or Educational Leader for the
preparation, implementation, delivery and evaluation of developmentally appropriate programs
for Vacation Care and After School Care for children of school age.
• Ensure the development, implementation, and evaluation of daily routines.
• Ensuring that the physical facilities of the service are maintained, ensuring a safe environment for
children, parents, and staff. Notify of any hazards or maintenance required.
• Demonstrate appropriate ways of working with children through role modelling.
• Ensure that accurate records are maintained for each child.
• Ensure the competent administration of first aid.
• Ensure food preparation is hygienic, food is nutritious, and all food safety regulations are met.
Leading and Managing Staff
• Delegate, supervise and coach your educators to achieve high standards of performance.
• Communicate with and provide constructive feedback to individual educators daily (in
collaboration with Long Day Care Centre Manager).
• Guide and support educators to develop their skills and knowledge.
• Demonstrate and promote a positive attitude, respect, trust, and support between all educators.
• Seek to resolve disputes positively and in a timely manner.
• Ensure all centre policies and procedures are followed.
• Ensure all tasks are shared equitably and completed each day.
• Share information daily.
• Encourage educators to use their initiative, make suggestions and share information
• Respect confidentiality where appropriate.
Customer Value
• Ensure excellent customer value is provided by all educators to families of the service.
• Ensure the centre is clean, well presented, and welcoming.
• Establish a positive liaison with parents and children attending the centre.
• Prepare written communication for parents as required.
• Ensure families and children are greeted on arrival and departure.
• Respond to parent’s queries and refer them to other staff or Centre Manager as appropriate.
• Support educators in handling issues raised by parents and discuss relevant concerns with parents
as required.
Centre Management
• Responsible for clerical duties and reporting including monitoring Family accounts, debt
management, banking, and timesheet approvals.
• Adhere to all relevant statutory requirements including regulations as outlined in the Child Care
Services Act and ensuring (in collaboration with the Centre Manager) the service is complying with
CCS requirements as outlined by DEEWR.
• Liaise with officers from outside agencies as required.
• Communicate well with other Mulberry Tree/Indigo Montessori management including other
Centre Managers, Area Managers, and owners.
• Keep appropriate written records.
• Keep filing system organised and up to date.
• Ensure high standards of safety and hygiene in compliance with occupational health and safety
legislation and other regulatory requirements – both on the premises and when on outings during
Vacation Care (including safe transportation of children
