I am seeking employment in the field of aquatics to apply my developing comprehensive skills and knowledge. Currently working as an Aquatic Program Developer, I am a dedicated swim instructor experienced in teaching swimmers at all levels. I pride myself in knowledgeable and current safety protocols and am consistently provide enjoyable learning environments for all to flourish. Genuinely enthusiastic for swimming and highly effective in motivating and inspiring students of every age, I can contribute to the position and your organisation.
Fives time during the week, I was responsible for the safety and wellbeing of approximately 150 students - aged 3-12 years old - across a range of specific swim stages.
In collaboration with the head Swim Teacher, I successfully implemented the Swim England Curriculum, catering to meet the diverse needs of each student and promote positive growth and understanding in the application of different swim strokes. Simultaneously, I made a conscious effort to consistently uphold the core values of Team Swim School through -
As a result, students continued to confidently showcase their understanding by positively responding to instructions and actively engaging in all activities.
Over the course of 4 years, I worked across multiple locations for Greenwich Leisure, including Clapham, Brixton and Moreden, implementing specialised swim programs to large groups of students (8-12 for reoccurring weekly lessons and 12-20 within school lessons) or in 1-to-1 situations.
Due to the diversity of students, I consistently applied a range of strategies and methods, successfully meeting the learning abilities and needs of all. My interactions such as: using simple language, applying positive reinforcement and guiding independence through repetition and a strength-based approach, proved crucial in building and maintaining student confidence and positive rapport. Furthermore, trust with parents/guardians was established by being accessible and transparent about progress, through providing ongoing support outside of scheduled lessons. Colleagues have also commended me on my ability to interact professionally and positively with relevant stakeholders.
Over the course of a year and a half, I worked in collaboration with the head Swim Teacher to successfully implement Langly Hall's Primary Academy's swim program. Students were aged between 4 - 11 years old with class sizes ranging between 22 - 26.
Whole-Part-Whole was a successful approach I implemented consistently. I ensured to focus on individual aspects of a stroke to ensure student progress within each lesson and determine areas for future improvement. Furthermore, this allowed my students to effectively master new skills and absorb new knowledge.
I believe I served as a reliable substitute instructor when necessary, maintaining continuity of instruction across all classes.
