Surgical Orthopaedics

• Effectively manage multiple clinical priorities while caring for high acuity orthopaedic patients requiring complex medical and surgical intervention.
• Coordinate and safely manage the care of multiple preoperative and postoperative patients, preparing them for theatre and closely monitoring vital signs post-anaesthesia
• Comprehensively assess patient's pain and functional ability prior to and post surgical intervention, administering appropriate analgesia in a safe and timely manner.
• Comprehensively assess patient's pain and functional ability, providing multimodal pain management through administration of oral and intravenous analgesia, including competency to safely manage patient's requiring continuous intravenous analgesic infusions and regional catheters.
• Managing the admission and discharge process for patients on a fast-paced orthopaedic ward with high patient turnover to facilitate patient flow.
• Provide comprehensive education to patients and families regarding surgical procedures, recovery expectations, and follow-up care, advocating for informed decision making
• Management of complex surgical wounds using aseptic technique. Developing comprehensive wound management care plans tailored to the individual to promote wound healing and reduce the risk of infection, including providing patient education to ensure proper wound management post-discharge and making referrals to outpatient services for follow-up.
• Management of patient's with confirmed or suspected spinal injuries, including competency to assist with spinal transfers.
• Management of patient's requiring respiratory support through the use of humidified high-flow nasal cannulation (AIRVO), including the preparation and disassembly of the device.

General Medicine

• Effective time management and task prioritisation while working within a fast-paced ward environment
• Provide compassionate care for palliative patients, ensuring the needs of the patient are met while maintaining comfort and dignity. Including offering support, guidance, and resources to the family throughout the dying process.
• Provide one-to-one management for patients receiving nutritional restoration while admitted under the Mental Health Act, guided by the WAEDOCS protocol.
• Insertion and management of patient's requiring a nasogastric tube, including the administration of medication and nutritional supplementation.
• Management of patient's requiring nutritional support via percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy.
• Bladder and bowel management including the insertion and monitoring of intermittent and indwelling catheterization and management of patient's with a stoma.

• Coordinate patient scheduling, check-in, check-out and payments for billing.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information.
• Manage high call volumes, directing calls to appropriate departments while maintaining a polite and professional demeanour.
