I have over three years experience working with NDIS as a Disability Support Worker in and around the Gold Coast region since returning to Australia in December 2020. I have thoroughly enjoyed the responsibilities, challenges and rewards this occupation has given me on a daily basis. Prior to this role I have had an interesting array of vocations both in Australia and abroad which all involved working within team environments both large and small, collaborating with people from different countries and diverse cultural backgrounds. This has enabled me to communicate effectively and clearly, actively listen and work creatively with competing priorities.
I have worked with people of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures since I had my first job as a teenager. For the last 3.5 years, I have enjoyed supporting people living with disabilities, mental health challenges, and physical illnesses within their homes, as well as out and about in the community. My responsibilities have been varied and have allowed me to show that I am a responsible, trustworthy individual. I am very resilient and always empathetic.
I provide assistance to staff in the daily operations of the organisation. The main area I work in is clothing: sorting, sizing, hanging garments in the correct locations, maintaining the shopping area and customer service. I really enjoy spending time at Lifeline because I believe Lifeline makes a huge impact in our society and saves lives.
