I am a civil engineering student at Edith Cowan University (ECU) with a strong passion for the construction and engineering industries.
My work experience has primarily been trade-oriented, as I believe a solid foundation in hands-on trades is essential for gaining a comprehensive understanding of construction and engineering.
Following my graduation, I dedicated a year to full-time work at Dial A Glass, where I gained extensive experience as a trade assistant. This role allowed me to develop a well-rounded understanding of both the glazing industry and the broader domestic construction sector.
Looking ahead, I aim to integrate engineering-based roles into my career while completing my degree. My goal is to graduate with not only theoretical knowledge but also practical industry experience, ensuring I am fully prepared to contribute effectively to the field of civil engineering.
During my employment at Dial A Glass, I was responsible for the installation of glass products, primarily in new housing developments. As my skills and capabilities grew, my role evolved accordingly. Dial A Glass invested in my professional development, providing training that enabled me to work more independently on-site. This allowed me to reach a level where I could confidently perform tasks and installations on my own. As of present and looking forward I intend to extend my understanding of this trade and the industry while also working through my engineering degree.
In my role at TMM, I focused on developing a foundational understanding of low-voltage electrical systems, primarily related to sound and lighting systems on boats. As well as the electrical aspect of the job the company also installs marine flooring solutions which I spent a large portion of time doing. This position was intended to provide me with experience in the auto electrical trade, which I had a strong interest in at the time and was considering pursuing after graduation
