With over 40 years of experience in the military, law enforcement, and paramedicine, I bring a tolerant, level-headed, and adaptable attitude to the workplace and training environment. Engaging with staff and students in coaching and development, I assess strengths, areas for growth, and focus. I am committed to finding customized learning approaches when necessary to meet individual and organizational needs. Despite my length of service, I remain enthusiastic and passionate about this profession every day. I have many years ahead to contribute and to share decades of skill, knowledge, and expertise with the Graduate Paramedics, ICP Students, Patient Transport Officer and Volunteers of both today, and tomorrow.

Intensive Care Paramedic

  • Over two decades I have worked for two Australian State Ambulance Services, the ACT Ambulance Service (ACTAS) and Ambulance Tasmania (AT)
  • I qualified as an Intensive Care Paramedic in 2010
  • At this point I accepted a contract with the Saudi Red Crescent and worked on a HEMs in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
  • Returning to Australia, I worked predominately at AT delivering contemporary, emergency prehospital care in permanent roles including the Critical Response Unit, and as a Clinical Support Officer and Branch Station Officer.
  • Of particular relevance to the role of Clinical Services Officer, is a 5 year appointment as a Clinical Support officer with AT where I was responsible for ensuring governance and best practice, Graduate Intern development, training of ICP students, clinical investigations, input into curriculum design and more.
  • Since 2017 I have utilised annual and long service leave to seek contract work with various agencies and NGOs in addition to my full time role.
  • I have worked FIFO contract roles in PNG and the Solomon Islands in support of Oil and Gas projects and AFP/DFAT missions as well as ADF support roles.
  • I have worked contracts in Iraq (Mosul 2017) and volunteered as an ICP in Ukraine (Lviv 2022) and Vanuatu (Port Vila 2023)
  • I am currently employed full time as an ICP in PNG by St John Ambulance.

  • I joined the Queensland Policee Service (QPOL) in 1990 and worked across both metro and remote stations
  • I was predominately a uniformed duty officer, walked the beat, had a secondary role within the Bomb Response Group and achieved the rank of Sergeant and a permanent role as academy recruit instructor in firearms and officer survival and tactics (FOST)
  • I left QPOL in 1996 and joined Tasmania Police (TASPOL), in my home State
  • Again, predominately a uniformed officer I worked across both metro and remote stations, I maintained secondary roles within the Bomb Response Group and as a FOST instructor
  • In 2000/2001 I was seconded to the AFP and deployed to East Timor as a Senior Sergeant
  • My role included the design and delivery of a FOST training package for the newly formed East Timorese Police Service (ETPS)
  • I spent 6 months with a small training team travelling to every remote ETPS Police District in the country including the enclave of Oecussi
  • At the end of my tour, I had trained some 1500 newly appointed police officers in FOST skills, on time and under budget.

  • I joined the Australian Regular Army at 17
  • I was an Infantry Soldier, a Corporal, with responsibility for the training, welfare and discipline of the 9 men under my command
  • I deployed to Malaysia and Papua New Guinea on a standard rotation, was exchanged with a New Zealand counterpart and subsequently posted to Sembawang Barracks in Singapore
  • My Battalion was also deployed to military coups in both Vanuatu and Fiji during my service where our mission was to secure Australian High Commissions and assist in the evacuation of Australian Citizens.
