Austin Health's GNP gave me the opportunity to experience different aspects of nursing in the acute settings of a surgical and medical ward.

This has allowed me to to integrate and refine my theoretical knowledge and practical skills.


Orthopedics: Rotation 1

  • Strengthened my ability to assess, plan and implement effective nursing interventions whilst building therapeutic connections with patients in a fast paced environment.
  • Delivered pre and post operative care to patients by performing appropriate assessments and administering effective pain management in the form of oral opioid's, PCA's and regional catheters following established protocols.


General Medicine: Rotation 2 (current)

  • Performed thorough patients assessments to be able to identify changes in condition and escalate appropriately.
  • Utilised critical thinking skills to prioritise nursing interventions and tasks based on patients acuity levels and individual needs in a timely matter.
  • Collaborated with an interdisciplinary team to develop comprehensive treatment plans for complex patients with multiple comorbidities
