• Monitor contract compliance and results of forestry activities to assure adherence to government regulations
• Establish short- and long-term plans for management of forest lands and forest resources
• Choose and prepare sites for removal, using controlled burning, bulldozers, or herbicides to clear weeds, brush, and logging debris
• Plan and supervise forestry projects, such as determining the type, number and placement of trees to be removed, thinning forest and monitoring growth of new seedlings
• Negotiate terms and conditions of agreements and contracts for forest harvesting, forest management and leasing of forest lands
• Harvest trees with hand-held chainsaws and machine felling machines
• Fasten cables around logs to be dragged by tractors
• Operate skidders that drag logs to the landing or deck area
• Separate logs by species, diameters, grade of wood and load them onto trucks
• Drive/operate and manage bush and truck crew while operating machine and tree harvesters trees into specific lengths, diameter per specific diameter/length specs
• Grade logs according to characteristics such as Diameter, length, commercial grade, export grade
• Inspect equipment for safety before using it and perform necessary basic maintenance tasks
• Adhere to and enforce all workplace health and safety policies and procedures and government legislation
• Lead, supervisor and mentor work crews to ensure all allocated task are being completed in a safe, compliant and efficient manner
• Manage an export yard, goods in and out of yard
• Layout of road plans for efficient handling
• Adhere to OHS practises put into place across my export, personal and family situations
• Labourer for concrete company, labourer for Taylor bros engineering and much more

my primary roll was to feed the power plant with buckets of dry crushed wood material, addition to this i had to drive a small HR truck to dump off excess material from the sugar crushing. 12h per day shift work

main roll was harvesting, pine trees for the export market

i also operated a D11 dozer on the chip pile in the port authority yard.

I was 1 of 4 to be trusted with the stacking off logs on the export ships which took 30,000 tonnes per load

• Contracted to Hancock Plantations as a Crew Leader for 2 years to aid in the clean-up of 162 National Parks and debris removal
• Responsible for scheduling of works, completion of paperwork (job plans, risk assessments, tool box meetings, fleet reports and roster scheduling)
• Management of 3 operators and 5 trucks operating 24 hours (2 x 12 hour shifts)
