I am an appointed coal mine worker currently working at Kestrel Coal mine for Cougar drilling. I have been in this role for over 2 month due to recent events in which Cougar has lost its contract at Kestrel im not looking to change mines so now it is time to move on to what i like to do most and what i was doing before at Grosvenor secondary support.
I am currently working in gas drainage but secondary support is what i know and like best which was installing megabolts, geo dowels, hair pin trusses, thrust bolts, remedial support, easier holes in the longwall, as well as tensioning and grouting; all this includes using Gophers, QDS, Air tracks and windy borers. Grosvenor has very challenging geological conditions due to its faults, dikes and stone and clay bands.
Before working at Grosvenor, I worked at Moranbah North Coal Mine with Mitchell Services doing in-seam gas removal which gave me a new found respect for methane. While there, I was offsiding the drill rigs, gas managing day to day, gas flows and setting up sites for drilling. However, Oakey North is where I started with Undermine in Secondary support working with the same equipment as Grosvenor, but with very different stone conditions.
I am now looking for my next challenge and continue my career with a strong professional work ethic, positive attitude, and second to none focus on safety as it is paramount.
