In 2019, I completed a Bachelor of Global Studies degree at the University of Technology in Sydney, majoring in health studies. Upon my completion,
my goal was to work in a developing country in the humanitarian sector. I secured an internship with the United Nations in Kosovo, living and working there for six months. Since then I have been working as a social worker for Neami National, helping the homeless population navigate the housing system and linking them in with the right support network. I have been acting Senior Practice Leader for the last four months.
I am extremely passionate about health, equality and the environment. My future goal is to work in Health Promotion for disadvantaged communities.
My role as a Community and Rehabilitation and Support Worker is to work in partnership with health services, general practitioners and other community services to address the needs of people with complex health needs and long histories of sleeping rough. Regular foot patrols are conducted to identify homeless people most in need. The assertive outreach model is aimed at providing integrated services that focus on consumer identified goals, improved health outcomes and transition from homelessness to safe, secure and sustainable long-term accommodation. We persist and work with people over the medium to long term supporting people to maintain their tenancies once they are in housing.
I have been acting Senior Practice Leader for the last four months. In this role I have provided practice development and coaching to service delivery staff, hired new staff and been heavily involved in stakeholder engagement.
I undertook a six month internship with the United Nations in Kosovo. My role was with the Sustainable Development program team and focused on building the local economy by job stimulation.
Key responsibilities included;
• Supporting the activities within the UNDP projects related to Sustainable Development, including conducting research, providing inputs and compiling different reports and assessments.
• Assist the program and project teams on preparing for internal and external meeting, training, public and media events.
• Support the program and project teams in implementing a monitoring framework of projects, including participating in monitoring visits to the field localities.
• Draft stories which highlight key successes of projects under the SD portfolio and their impact on various aspects of the people’s lives.
I volunteered at Mahboba’s Promise as a Sponsorship
Assistant, managing their sponsorship program
for orphans and widows in Afghanistan. This included
communication with donors, creating excel sheets to manage funds and thinking of innovative ways to attract more donors.
