Summary

Please consider my expression of interest in the position of APS 5 in the Service and Delivery Group as advertised on Seek. I am an experienced Support Coordinator and Support Worker within the NDIS. I am keen to broaden my experience by working with people across different demographics to strengthen my skills and to become a valued member of the NDIA.

For the last 3 years I have been working as an NDIS Support Coordinator, Social Support Worker for clients with Psychosocial disabilities, and as the Social Support Team Leader. As part of this role, I have had the opportunity to support and get to know many vulnerable people. This role has allowed me to advocate for those who do not have the capacity to do so and to think outside the box to solve unexpected issues. I support clients by encouraging social outings and participation in the community while focusing on flexibility and being in tune with individual needs. I would liaise with stakeholders and allied professionals to ensure the client received the support they required. As part of my role as Support Coordinator, I helped clients with their NDIS plan reviews and to budget their funding for their needed supports. I have had extensive exposure to the NDIA as part of my current role and believe my skills would translate well into this advertised role.

I am currently studying in my 3rd year of a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ), where I have maintained a high standard across my written and verbal assessments throughout the degree. I have gained many relevant skills throughout my studies, including: Integrity, leadership, IT skills, written and oral communication, the ability to work independently and within a team, and the capacity to provide clear and concise information. I have excellent time management skills and pride myself on my adaptability.

Prior to my experience in support work, I was a qualified chef for 17 years. Working as a chef allowed me to be comfortable in high pressure environments. I learned to be able to think and act calmly in stressful situations, while maintaining strong working relationships through teamwork and communication. I learned to be flexible and organised while maintaining strong work ethic.

I believe I would be an asset to the NDIA and to vulnerable people in the community. I look forward to the opportunity to meet with you to discuss a potential future as a service delivery team member.
