Maternity Ward (6A)

  • Experience in Team leading a 32 bed high acuity ward.
  • Overseeing staff in a leadership capacity and ensuring patient flow and safe practice.
  • Experience in caring for high-risk antenatal patients with a physiological understanding behind the diagnosis/condition ie T1DM, APH, PET, GDM.
  • Competent in caring for women and their neonates following vaginal, instrumental or cesarean births according to guidelines, policies and protocols.
  • Proficient in understanding the normal antenatal and postnatal parameters, and can delegate and escalate to the appropriate multidisciplinary team when required.
  • Effective communication between other staff members and multi-disciplinary teams using ISOBAR, PACE and closed-loop communication.

Delivery Suite (6B)

  • Provides competent care for normal and high-risk women in labour and birth within my scope of practice.
  • Able to work autonomously in a high pressure environment and escalate when required.
  • Skilled in caring for women who require continuous fetal monitoring and induction of labour as well as able to follow protocols, guidelines and policies in relation to labour.
  • Trained in the interpretation of continuous fetal monitoring, consequently, taking action within my scope of practice to improve fetal conditions or expedite birth when appropriate.
  • Ability to appropriately triage women who present to DS and provide assessments within my scope of practice.

Antenatal Clinic

  • Foster a welcoming and educational space for women to speak freely without judgment, creating a therapeutic relationship.
  • Skilled in the use and interpretations of the EPDS, psychosocial risk assessment tool and TEHS domestic violence screen, as well as liaising with appropriate services including PANDA, social work, territory families, ALO, discharge planners, perinatal mental health and other multidisciplinary services when required.

Domiciliary:

  • Provide autonomous postnatal care to women and babies within the home environment with open communication to create a safe space.
  • Advocate for women and their families to ensure positive recovery outcomes and safe discharges with a strong knowledge in resources in local areas that are available to women to transition successfully back into the community.
  • Effective communication and teamwork between multidisciplinary teams, including paediatrics, obstetrics, and community care nurses.
