Demolition at Gut IT, Adelaide 01/2010-(while at school)-(Currently Working)
This has been my father's business ever since from a young age I have worked for everything I own. I started working for my father when I was 11 although he took it easy on me and only worked on the lighter jobs till I was of age. I work with him and other workers learning how to work in a team in physically demanding and hard work.
Some of the key skills I learned here were Teamwork, independence, responsibility and hard work.
Factory Hand at Vili's Family Bakery, Adelaide 01/2022-11/2022
Factory Hand-Production worker
I worked in a high-risk sterilized environment at the Vili's Family Bakery. In our area, we had about 9 people each with a role to do and would swap jobs as necessary. We were in charge of making the dough for the high-quality Vili's Pie, Pasty and Vili Dog. The work was physically demanding and with 11-hour shifts every day of the work week.
Working at Vili's Family Bakery taught me many things about working in a high-risk large team environment. We needed to move very quickly. Any delay would cost us hours and push through to get the job done. It was hard physical work but the hours made it tougher. I like to imagine I am used to waking up early and traveling long distances with no public transport and braving any weather to get to the job and get it done. I learned how to work fast and not waste time when working in a fast-paced place where tempers can fly.
I learned to be cool and calm in highly tense situations and never let it interrupt my work or my happiness at work. On my average day at Vili's Family Bakery, I would wake up 3 AM and ride my electronic bike to Vili's which was about 40 minutes away then once arriving i would change into my clean Vilies work clothes (as per the rules) and then start work at 4 AM i would then sanitize and set all the machinery we would be using that day, once all the equipment was set up we would load up to about 300 kg of flour water and butter into the mixer and wait until it was mixed once mixed we would haul the "bowl" of dough over to the press where one man would be at the back ripping the dough and the other two on the left and right flank pressing it into 15kg blocks since i was one of the stronger lads i was most likely ripping the ripping of the "bowl" was an incredibly tough task that required lots of stamina and strength to pull off and since we were timed 15 minutes was the optimal amount of time as we had about 23 bowls to get through each day on average. Once the blocks were made we would then press them into sheets and place them on the rack. After all the bowls were done we would need to clean everything top to bottom. Vili's has a very strict cleaning policy. We would need to clean the mixer, the two bowls, presses, knives, sheeters, racks, tubs and the floor getting done around 5 to do it again the next day.
Meatworks, Arndale- Cleaner (while at school)
At my time with Meatworks, I was responsible for cleaning the meat trays, and all the tools and floors to make sure bacteria and disease didn't spread. I had to use various chemicals and tools to make sure all utilities were sanitized.
