As an experienced Science teacher of thirty-four years with the WA Department of Education, I have gained proficiency in engaging a wide variety of students, staff, and broader community stakeholders. Facilitating effective leadership in professional learning for staff includes tapping into what is known and moving forward into future possibilities. I have led programs for gifted and talented students requiring cognitive accelerated learning as well as students at extreme educational and social risk. I am skilled at making use of the latest technologies to excite and motivate students and to differentiate curriculum delivery to accommodate the full range of learning needs. It is important to embrace pastoral care methodologies that encompass taking into account not only the intellectual but also the social and emotional needs of staff and students. It has given me great pleasure to have taken on both formal and informal leadership roles to mentor and upskill colleagues and to promote science, technology, engineering and mathematical (STEM) student pathway. I have demonstrated my ability to initiate change by implementing the integration of cutting-edge technology, project-based learning strategies, and ‘flip learning' strategies into the science learning area plans at schools. The importance of developing environments where people can feel safe and collaborate creatively together is vital to achieving successful outcomes. It is important to supply materials and resources that innovate and motivate staff and students to reach their full creative potential. I am passionate about science education and the possibilities for students in the future. My brain is filled with the plethora of resources, networks and companies available to support our common aim to engage our students in STEM career pathways. It is my firm belief that to achieve successful educational outcomes, positive relationships must be developed with staff, individual students, their families, and invested stakeholders. I have successfully immersed myself in the culture of each of the schools by establishing close friendships and networks across the school community, facilitating opportunities for professional learning with colleagues, and creating explicit links between the school, feeder primary schools, local businesses, and universities. My dedication to science education is reflected in my preparedness to give of my own time to undertake a wide variety of professional learning activities and to share
