  • Primary Nurse role which involves discussing monthly blood results with patients and educating/providing support where needed and documenting monthly nursing notes to ensure up to date information is communicated to the Renal Consultants
  • ACCES LINK NURSE ROLE Involves programming regular access flows of the vascular fistula, the patients “life line” and following up with the results
  • I will then assess if further action needs to be taken to ensure that the vascular fistulas with any concerns are communicated to the RAH vascular access team to ensure any interventions are performed in a timely manner to ensure patency is maintained

  • I also assist in educating junior staff in vascular access assessment and cannulation skills
  • Working in dialysis also includes supporting patients and their families palliative care transition, liaising with Renal Consultants and escalate care when clinically indicated
  • Preceptor to student nurses and Graduate nurses who are undergoing Dialysis training, facilitating patients who wish to progress to home dialysis and involvement in their training.
