Senior Support Worker with 5+ years of experience in the Community Services sector and people facing roles with a dedicated focus in culturally safe responses to mental health, emotional well-being, and harm minimization for people with experiences of substance abuse and other intersections.
• Undertakes diverse tasks relating to the maintenance and improvement of NNTC assets including, but not limited to visitor facilities, buildings, roads, fire trails, camping areas, accommodation facilities, parking areas, Cultural sites, and recreational infrastructure and fencing.
• Undertakes pest and weed programs to protect land values and avoid potential impacts on neighbours, involving the use of pesticides, chemicals, subject to training and certifications.
• Assists with the construction and installation of new assets including tracks, roads, management trails and visitor facilities in accordance with relevant competencies and plans, specifications and guidelines.
• Conducts routine maintenance and servicing of parks and visitor facilities including rubbish removal, cleaning, hygienic duties, site preparation for events and traffic control.
• Participates in wildfire response to the level of crew member or above to protect public safety, property and park values, subject to training and certifications. May be required to participate in incident responses.
• Assists with rehabilitation, restoration and threatened species and fire management programs to conserve and maintain land and water values and assets and contributes to the collection and compilation of data that supports
their role.
• Participates in visitor safety activities including search and rescue and events subject to training and certification.
• Operates and maintains potentially hazardous plant and equipment including such things as hand tools, powered tools, spray units, water pumps, chainsaws, all-terrain vehicles, four-wheel drives and minor plant.
• Participate in any training programs, conference, and meetings, as directed by Chair or supervisor.
• Attend all meetings that are relevant to NNTC as requested to do so.
· Participating in workshops and yarning circles with the wider research project team.
· Assuming a leadership role to ensure cultural safety parameters are acknowledged and respected.
· Planning future meetings and discussions within short timeframes.
· Participate in ongoing discussions pertaining to the value of lived experience within the community development sector.
· Advocacy for community voice in these spaces and the importance of First Nation’s representation in the research team.
· Assisting with project mapping and writing.
· Final delivery of report to stakeholders.
