St Catherines Ward (Surgical Medical)

• Successfully completed placements in a busy Surgical Medical Ward.
• Worked a full shift with Stomal Therapist.
• Worked two shifts with the Team Leader and gained insights of how the team leaders managed the schedule and delegations.
• Assisted in most MET Calls with the floor nurses and successfully looked after perioperative patients.
• Enhanced time management skills and vital signs taking skills. Gained extended knowledge on gastrointestinal surgeries.

McCann Ward (Rehabilitation)

• Routine nursing care including vital signs observations, care plans, activities of daily living, and handovers.
• Medications administration under 8 rights of medication administration.
• Assistance in blood transfusion and continuous monitor for patients' adverse effects.
• Postoperative neurovascular and neuromuscular assessments. Post-fall neurological assessment and other focused assessments.
• Colostomy bag care and complex surgical wound care management and documentation.
• Worked with general practitioners and allied health professionals to provide optimum care plan for the patients.
• Assigned up to 3 patients load.

• Worked with carers, nurses and other medical health professionals to promote great patient care and pleasant work environment.
• Attended and participated in every handover session with team members during placement.
• Assisted in activities of daily living including toileting, shower and meals.
• Responsible for all the vital sign observations including BGL's in designated wards throughout 4 weeks of placement.
• Participated in monitoring escalated deterioration of patient's health and infected patients. Participated in short-term palliative care.
• Successfully advocated for a struggling patient with less than 60% oxygen saturation and suspected Covid-19 infection.
• Assisted in pressure area care, wound care and management.
• Responsible for some Neurovascular, Neurological assessments. assisted in PRAT and FRAT.
• Worked in Dementia Ward as part of the placement.
